Panama Pictures investst in intensive collaborations and focuses strongly on connecting with its audience and on long-term partnerships with its venues and associaties.
Panama Pictures consciously chooses to produce work for diverse networks. Besides the regular theatre circuit with small and large auditoriums, Panama Pictures also produces performances for locations and festivals.
Starting from a solid local and regional base, the work of the company reaches far beyond the Netherlands. Panama Pictures’ performances premiere in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and play regularly in Noord-Brabant but are also part of – and have significance in – an (inter)national dance and circus landscape.
The company has solidfied its position through intensive cooperation with its associates: home theatre Verkadefabriek, festival Festival Circolo, theatre De Kring Roosendaal, co-producer and in-house composers Strijbos & Van Rijswijk, preparatory dance training Vooropleiding Hedendaagse Dans (VHD), sponsor Stagelight and the art academies: Fontys Dance Academy, Fontys Academy for Circus and Performance Art (ACaPA) and Codarts (Codarts Circus Arts).
Panama Pictures is also a member of the interest groups NAPK, De Kunst van Brabant and Circuspunt.
Panama Pictures likes to share its knowledge with young performers and makers and invests in coaching young talents. Through continuous research, the company pushes the boundaries of dance and circus and provides important impulses for the artistic development of both disciplines.
The professionally equipped studio in ‘s-Hertogenbosch is the company’s rehearsel space, but also offers a place for residencies, coaching and workshops. The home base thus functions as a place of meeting and exchange for regional and (inter)national talent.
Subsidies
Since the 1st of January 2017 Panama Pictures is structurally subsidized by performing Arts Fund NL and the province of Noord-Brabant. From 2018 the municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch has also provided funding.
Co-producers Strijbos & Van Rijswijk
Jeroen Strijbos and Rob van Rijswijk form a nationally and internationally successful composer duo who creates installations, compositions and work for dance and theatre.
Panama Pictures and Strijbos & Van Rijswijk have been artistic partners for more than fifteen years. This long-term, inspiring artistic collaboration is of great importance for the development of the work and finds its resonance on a financial and organizational level. Strijbos & van Rijswijk is a permanent co-producer of the full-length Panama Pictures performances. The composers also use their technical expertise to achieve optimum sound quality.
